Timothy Leary TV movie: Tune In, Dumb Down, Turn Off?
Call me paranoid but the thought of a made-for-TV movie about Timothy Leary by the producer of The Michael Jackson Story sounds like a pending "expose on the danger of drugs." Let's hope not. At least it will probably show on cable. Does anyone know anything about this movie?
In other news and just for fun, I added a Timothy Leary entry to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Watching TV Makes You Smarter?
Steven Johnson writes another brilliant article in preparation for the release of his latest book Everything Bad is Good for You: "In the end, the Sleeper Curve tells us something about the human mind. It may be drawn toward the sensational where content is concerned -- sex does sell, after all. But the mind also likes to be challenged; there's real pleasure to be found in solving puzzles, detecting patterns or unpacking a complex narrative system." /The New York Times/

Max Barry on Future Repugnance
Writer Max Barry "(occasionally wonders) how social values will change over the next several decades. I'm pretty sure they will change, and our descendants will look back on the early years of the 21st century and find some of our ideals bizarre -- as repugnant as we find slavery, sexism, and repression. But which ones? Here are some guesses." /Max Barry/

On Intelligence
Jeff Hawkins, creator of the PalmPilot and Treo, suggests in his new book On Intelligence that intelligence is primarily about memory and prediction versus computation. "(P)redicting something is literally the start of how we do it. Remembering, predicting, perceiving and doing are all very intertwined." /Solution-Focused Change in Organizatioins/
